Back to Back Theatre: Ganesh Versus the Third Reich

  • Ganesh, the elephant-headed deity, confronts Hitler to demand the return of the swastika, originally a Hindu symbol. Their exchange is observed by Nazi Germany’s Angel of Death, Dr Mengele. This set up sets in motion a young playwright’s struggle for his share of fame and fortune. But what are the moral implications of tackling this topic?

Back to Back Theatre, one of Australia’s foremost creative forces, focuses on ethical, philosophical and social issues concerning the rights of the individual. Their brutally honest and mind-blowingly powerful performances force viewers to face up to otherness and discrimination.
